General Information About Sorrento, Positano and Pompeii

Our top rated tour from the Ports of Naples and Salerno… get ready for a fantastic day out!

Directly in the Port of Naples, our driver will be waiting for you with a sign showing your name on it. You will then start the scenic drive towards Sorrento along the famous Costiera Amalfitana. A stunning coastline will capture immediately your sight!

Sorrento is a charming town lying on a large limestone terrace facing the sea. Inhabited since the ancient times by the Etruscans, Greeks and Romans, this town hosts today a vast collection of mosaics, porcelain and wood works. Simply enchanting and romantic…the beauty of this town will definitely leave you without words!

Afterwards, you will head to Positano. Known for its seaside cafés, shops and designer boutiques, it is considered one of the most beautiful towns in southern Italy. During medieval times Positano was a secondary port of the powerful Maritime Republic and Port of Amalfi that continued to be wealthy throughout the 16th and 17th century. After the first and second World Wars many inhabitants of this area decide to leave looking for a better life in the Americas. Positano that for many years was a fishermen’s port, boosted his success thanks to John Steinbeck’s essay “Positano bites deep” published in 1953 in which he wrote: “It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.”

Our last stop will be Pompeii, a dramatic archaeological site buried by the ashes of the Volcano Vesuvius erupted in 79 a.d. The town is believed to have been founded by the Oscans in the 7th or 6th century b.c. and subsequently conquered by the Romans in 80 b.c. This site offers you a once in a lifetime opportunity to step back in time and discover what an ancient Roman city looked like, as the lava and ashes preserved perfectly a large part of this area.

During the entire tour you will have many opportunities to take pictures of the amazing coastline, and a stop for an authentic lunch in a local restaurant is highly recommended. Our driver will be happy to reserve a table.

Don’t forget to sip a glass of the famous Limoncello!

After the tour we will drive you back to the port on time!
